Steven Blessington, PA-C, MHP, EMT-P

Pharmacology Professor

Steve Blessington received his Physician Assistant (PA) and Master of Health Professions (MHP) degree from Northeastern University in 1996. He has been in active practice for over 28 years, with twenty-five of those years in the field of emergency medicine. Steve has been employed with Maine Medical Center (MMC) in Portland since 2005, first in the Emergency Department and more recently with to the Hospital Medicine Service where he splits his time between Maine Medical Center and Stephens Hospital in Norway, Maine. Prior to MMC, Steve worked at St. Joseph Hospital, Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, and St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. Before becoming a PA Steve was a paramedic and firefighter in Springfield and Amherst, MA.

Steve is a past President and Chief Delegate of the Maine Association of Physician Assistants (MEAPA), and a former member of the Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine. He began lecturing for the ºÚÁ϶ÅPA Program in 2008 and became adjunct faculty in 2012 teaching pharmacology.

Steve lives in Harpswell with his wife and has two adult children. When not caring for patients, teaching the next generation of PAs, or working on renovation projects, Steve enjoys spending time with family and friends - boating, fishing, and exploring the beautiful waters of coastal Maine.
